The plant will build BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric delivery vans.
GM aims to have as many as 50,000 of them rolling off its assembly line per year by 2025.
BrightDrop also announced DHL Express was its first Canadian customer.
"Canada's EV future is no longer on the horizon. It's here and it's now," GM president says.
DHL Express was also revealed as BrightDrop’s first Canadian customer.
Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac are its four primary automotive brands.
It also has joint venture stakes in Chinese companies Wuling Motors and Baojun, as well as DMAX.
GM unveiled a $30,000 electric SUV, one of the most affordable EVs on the market.
