Hyundai Motor India and Shell India have partnered to expand EV charging infrastructure in India, aiming to promote environmentally friendly electric vehicles and enhance customer convenience. As part of the collaboration, 60 kW DC fast chargers will be installed at 36 Hyundai EV dealerships, with the possibility of 120 kW chargers if feasible. Hyundai will integrate Shell's charging network into its Charger Management System, and customers will receive special benefits. The collaboration supports India's goal of carbon neutrality and provides a seamless charging experience through advanced features.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), a leading provider of smart mobility solutions and the largest exporter in India, has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with Shell India Markets Private Limited (SIMPL) to expand the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the country. The collaboration aims to promote the adoption of environmentally friendly Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and enhance customer convenience.
Under this partnership, 60 kW DC Fast Chargers will be installed at 36 Hyundai EV dealerships across India. Additionally, if feasible, Shell India Markets Private Limited will consider installing DC 120 kW Fast Chargers instead of the 60 kW ones at these dealerships. Hyundai EV customers will enjoy special benefits for charging their vehicles at these dedicated charging points.
Moreover, Hyundai will integrate Shell’s EV charging network into its own Charger Management System (CMS), which allows EV owners, regardless of the brand, to access various charging facilities such as locating nearby charging stations and making payments through the CMS.
Hyundai currently operates 72 EV dealerships across 45 cities in India, offering two EV models, the recently launched Ioniq 5 and the Kona Electric.

The partnership with Hyundai aims to improve the charging infrastructure for BEVs in India, offering easy access, dynamic availability, and a seamless charging experience to meet the growing demand for electric mobility.
HMIL has already established a network of 72 EV dealerships in 45 cities as part of Phase-1 of its EV charging facility establishment. The collaboration with Shell India represents Phase-2, which involves the installation of DC 60/120 kW fast chargers at an additional 36 dealerships. This initiative aims to deliver a hassle-free, reliable, fast, and safe charging experience, setting a new benchmark in customer experience within the clean mobility landscape.
In its commitment to a sustainable future, HMIL has developed its own Charger Management Systems (CMS), an open platform that enables EV customers, regardless of their vehicle brand, to enjoy a seamless charging experience. Through this collaboration, Shell’s charging network will be available alongside HMIL’s own chargers and those operated by third-party Charge Point Operators on the Hyundai CMS. The CMS offers advanced features such as locating, navigating, and digital payment capabilities, making it an industry-leading initiative by an automobile manufacturer to facilitate EV charging in India.
