Volvo has taken the wraps off its latest offering, the EX90 Excellence, at the Shanghai Auto Show in China. This luxury electric SUV is a two-row, four-seater version of the brand’s flagship electric SUV, the Volvo EX90. As the brand’s top-of-the-line variant, the EX90 Excellence will be available in limited numbers to add to the premium feel of the electric vehicle.
Inside the cabin, the EX90 Excellence sees significant changes with a four-seater layout replacing the previous seven-seater configuration. The exterior of the vehicle remains largely unchanged, except for the addition of new 22-inch alloy wheels. The EX90 Excellence will first go on sale in the Chinese market, followed by other markets, including Volvo’s home market.
The seats of the Volvo EX90 Excellence are upholstered in either a tailored wood-blend material or a Nordico material made from recycled materials, such as PET plastic bottles. The biggest change to the luxury vehicle is the removal of the third-row seats. Instead, it features two individual seats with soft pillows at the back for passenger comfort. The executive seats are separated by a beverage cooler and centre console, which houses touch-sensitive controls for heat and massage functionality. Additionally, the luxury EV comes with an Orrefors crystal piece that controls a fragrance dispenser, providing three different fragrances.
In terms of features, the Volvo EX90 Excellence is equipped with a 14.5-inch infotainment system, 5G connectivity, OTA updates, and a new Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity system with 3D surround sound.
The Volvo EX90 Excellence has a crossover-like design with a sloping design and a closed-off front grille. It is available in a two-toned paint scheme and has newly designed 22-inch forged rims for better aerodynamic performance. The exterior of the vehicle remains mostly the same in terms of equipment and features.
The Volvo EX90 Excellence EV is powered by a 111kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup that results in an all-wheel-drive system. The luxury EV produces a combined power output of around 496bhp and offers a claimed range of up to 650km (CLTC cycle) on a single charge.
