In addition, Audi wants to establish a new facility in Changchun, China, in 2024 as a joint venture with FAW, with ambitions to domestically manufacture vehicles on the brand’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) design.
“We don’t want any isolated lighthouse projects on greenfield sites,” stated Gerd Walker, Audi Board Member for Production and Logistics. Instead, we are investing in existing factories to make them as efficient and adaptable as newly constructed production sites or greenfield plants.”
Audi already boasts vehicles like the Q8 e-tron, Q4 e-tron, and e-tron GT in its electric product lineup. Furthermore, the company has stated that the next vehicle will be the new Q6 e-tron SUV. From 2023 onwards, it will be Audi’s first electric car produced at its Ingolstadt plant.
The automaker also intends to cut manufacturing expenses by half by 2033 by promoting higher sustainability in its operations through reduced primary energy use and environmental impact.
The e-tron 50, e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback 55, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT are Audi’s five electric vehicles in India.
